Food for Thought-- IF by Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

What Color is your Brain?

Your Brain is Orange

Of all the brain types, yours is the quickest.

You are usually thinking a mile a minute, and you could be thinking about anything at all.

Your thoughts are often scattered and random - but they're also a lot of fun!

You tend to spend a lot of time thinking about esoteric subjects, the meaning of life, and pop culture.

Weekend Lessons Learned/Remembered

Last Wednesday morning, Greg and I headed for South Carolina to visit a friend of his from college and then to continue on to Greenville for Greg's younger brother's wedding. It was a good trip during which I was reminded of several things.

1) Always think about how your actions/decisions might impact those closest to you.
2) 'Soft' is not a masculine compliment, no matter how well intentioned.
3) Carefully read soda bottles or you may be trying to stay awake with caffeine free soda.
4) Scent shopping is fun and tortuous at the same time.
5) Girls will always be girls and like to be told they are pretty.
6) Boys will always be boys and should be allowed to be.
7) Life altering choices leading to life altering events demand punctuality.
8) Never hand a group of men a bunch of boutineers... It isn't pretty.
9) Biscuits and gravy never go out of style.
10) Sabers are fun.
11) Involvement in weddings is fun and stressful simultaneously.
12) Old friends are great and a refresher to the soul.
13) Smelling pretty is fun, especially when you're told so.
14) Always remember to grab all of your luggage.
15) Satellite Radio and CD's are gifts from God not to be taken for granted.
16) Never take your family or what they do for you for granted.
17) Dancing is an indoor activity from May through August.
18) Southern summers are hot.
19) Siblings rock! And finally,
20)Always pay careful attention to the crazy man at the rest stop on the interstate...
